What is the World Coming to? (Part 8)
Greetings precious people,
In last weekís article we began to look at the second set of judgements that will come upon this world during the time known as the Tribulation. These second set of judgements are known as the Trumpet Judgements. We looked at the first five. The first five in order are: First Trumpet- a third of the trees and all the green grass is burned up, Second Trumpet- a third part of the seas become blood, Third Trumpet- a third part of the rivers and fountains become bitter and many people die, Fourth Trumpet- a third part of the sun, moon, and stars are darkened, Fifth Trumpet- what appears to be a hoard of demons are let loose upon the earth to torment mankind for a period of five months. It must be understood that mankind brings the Judgement of God upon himself for his continued rebelliousness and rejection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. God has been warning every generation to repent and forsake its sin and turn to faith in Jesus Christ and be saved. If man will refuse, he must suffer the consequences.
Now, letís look at the remaining two Trumpet Judgements and some other events that occur during this time. In Revelation 9:13-21, we read of the Sixth Trumpet Judgement. "Then the sixth angel sounded: And I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God, saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, "Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates." So the four angels, who had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year, were released to kill a third of mankind. Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million; I heard the number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone. By these three plagues a third of mankind was killed--by the fire and the smoke and the brimstone, which came out of their mouths. For their power is in their mouth and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents, having heads; and with them they do harm. But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts."
A number of important points need to be understood concerning this judgement. First, these four angels who have been bound up at the river Euphrates, are no doubt demons, fallen angels. Demons so bad that God has had them incapacitated for a long time. Now He is going to unleash them to bring judgement upon this earth. Second, these four hideous demons will lead an army of two hundred million what appear to be demons, upon all of mankind. This will be a horrible time. A third part of all mankind will be killed. Third, many, in hearing of these judgements, will attempt to charge God with being cruel and unkind. But this is not the case; God is simply giving man what he has wanted for so many years, a world without God, and a world with no restraints. Wickedness will run rampant. Finally, notice the response of those remaining on the earth at this time. "The rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk. And they did not repent of their murders, or their sorceries, or their sexual immorality or their thefts." This has always amazed me. How when man is suffering the judgement of God, rather than crying out to God for mercy and forgiveness, he blasphemes God and chooses rather to continue on in his sin. This truly reveals the condition of manís heart. Jeremiah 17:9 tells us, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?" Take special note of the word sorceries. It comes from the Greek word "phar-ma-keia" which means medication, magic, witchcraft, and sorcery. We get our word "pharmacy" from this word. One of the avenues that Satan will work through during the end times will be that of wrongful drug use. We see an ever-increasing use of both illegal and legal drugs today. All the talk of the legalizing of drugs should concern us. Also, the ever-increasing dependency upon so-called legal prescribed drug use, should be a concern as well. It seems that the "experts" of our day have come up with a label for just about everything that can bother a person, give it a name and prescribe a drug for it. Be cautious dear people.
We are given the seventh Trumpet Judgement in Revelation 11:15-19. "Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, "The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!" And the twenty-four elders who sat before God on their thrones fell on their faces and worshiped God, saying: "We give You thanks, O Lord God Almighty,
The One who is and who was and who is to come, Because You have taken Your great power and reigned. The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth." Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple. And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail."
As the seventh Trumpet Judgement sounds, we are given a view of the heavenly temple with the twenty-four elders that are before the throne bowing down and worshiping God. We are also given the scene on earth where there is great anger and wrath toward God. Such great contrasts are seen here. Indescribable joy for those that have placed their trust in Christ and great anger and fear for those that have rejected Him.
The sounding of the Seventh Trumpet also lets all know that the final set of judgements known as the Vial Judgements are near. At the conclusion of these will come the end. Jesus Christ will return and set up His Righteous Rule, where sin will no longer be tolerated and True Peace will cover the earth.
Dear ones, there are only two groups when it comes to the Lord, those that are for Him and those that are against Him. Which group do you stand in today? Where you choose to stand will determine where you will spend eternity. If you havenít chosen yet, choose to stand with Jesus Christ today.
Next week we will take a break from our study on what the world is coming to and look at what Christmas is. Then the following week, we will pick up again looking at the last seven judgements. As always if you have any questions, requests, or would like prayer you may contact me at the address below. Until next time, may you walk closely with Jesus.
