Sexual Sin part 3

Greetings precious people. In today’s article, we will conclude our three part series on sexual sin. In the previous articles we have looked at the sexual sins of adultery (having sex with someone other than your spouse), fornication (having sex outside of marriage), and homosexuality (having sex between same sex individuals). We established from God’s Word, the Bible, that God has given to mankind the desire for sex and it is a wonderful thing when experienced within the confines of marriage between a man and a woman. Unfortunately, man has taken this wonderful expression of love between a man and a woman and has degraded it and brought it down into the depths of depravity that we see and hear about today.

In today’s article, I would like to share some final thoughts and concerns on the subject of sexual sin. First, there are a number of other sexual sins the Bible names such as bestiality, necrophilia, sodomy, and others. Tragically, these forms of sexual perversion and others are experiencing an increasing degree of interest, attention, and acceptance in our society today. Pedophilia is another despicable form of sexual perversion that is increasing at an alarming rate. How anyone can justify the taking of innocence from a child is beyond me. Yet in our society today, we have seen our high courts strike down laws that were meant to protect children from such perversion. The courts said the laws were unconstitutional! There is also a group known as ‘NAMBLA’ whose main function is the legalization of sex between men and boys. This group has experienced an increase in its membership over the past years. To be quite candid, to mention such things disgusts me. I think it is a shame to have to even speak of them. But these are real issues that are alive and well in our society. We are living in a society that is becoming sicker by the moment.

You have no doubt heard of our board of supervisors giving their approval for the establishing of two ‘strip joints’ here in Alpine. Some would say, what’s the big deal, its only entertainment, freedom of expression. This ‘IS’ the very problem. Because we have lost sight of what is right and what is wrong, we are now calling that which is evil good and that which is good evil. We have reached a time in our history similar to that of the time of Isaiah the Prophet when God spoke through him to the people of Israel. In Isaiah 5:20-21, "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes, And prudent in their own sight!" When God pronounces a Woe, He is not telling the people to slow down, rather He is pronouncing a pending judgement.

Like the people of Israel in the time of Isaiah, we too have turned our back on the One who made this country great. We have discarded His Word, the Bible, which is His guidebook to man on how to live and enjoy life. And in its place we have made our own rules, basically, whatever feels good, do it. We call all forms of perversion ‘art’ and ‘entertainment’.

I would like to take you on a quick study of a passage of scripture in hopes of showing the how and why all of this has happened and then take you to another portion of scripture that shows the cure.

In Romans 1:18-21, "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress (hold back) the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world, His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened." Very simply, we came to believe the "Big Lie", the lie Adam and Eve believed in the Garden of Eden when Satan told them they could be as God. In other words, they could make their own destiny, call their own shots, make their own rules, do their own thing, and do whatever feels good. Man could be his own god.

This is clearly seen in the verses that follow. Romans 1:22-23, "Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man--and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things." Man made himself god. If you look at the gods that man has made for himself and worshiped over the years, you’ll find that the earliest ones were made after the image of man. Zeus, Hermes, Aphrodite, to name but a few. Man continued his downward spiral as he began to make gods that were part human and part animal; then to animals and insects. Do you know that in Hinduism there are over 330 million gods that are worshiped?

We are told that by evolution we are progressing toward a higher state of consciousness, toward godhood. The truth is, we are in a state of devolution. When man was first created, he was at his peak. Then he rebelled against God and has gone downhill ever since.

We are told the next step in this downward spiral, in Romans 1:23-28, "Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting." Man rejects God and decides to worship himself and other things. God says OK, have it your way, and look at where ‘man’s way’ leads, to the perverse state we have reached today.

The following verses are profound and prophetic, I hope that you can see the truth of what God’s Word says here. Romans 1:29-32, "Being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them." Look closely at the things that are mentioned does this not describe what we call entertainment today? Think of the movies, TV show, catacombs, talk shows, gossip magazines, etc. Look at the last part of the verses that I have highlighted. We have taken that which God clearly says is wrong and sinful and said it is good.

There is only one cure for our condition of which we have sunk into. It is to repent. Repent is to have a change of mind that leads to a change of life. It begins by agreeing with God and His Word. Call sin for what it is, it is sin. Ask God to forgive you of your sin and to come into your heart and change your life.

Listen to what God says, Isaiah 1:16-20, "Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.

"Come now, and let us reason together," Says the LORD, "Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, You shall be devoured by the sword"; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken." The time to hear and obey God and His Word is now.
